Limitations when using data encryption
If you enable data encryption in your account, you will enhance the security of data storage both on the server and on the local computer. Now, log files and screenshots will be stored in encrypted form, and even in case of unauthorized access, extracting information from them will be impossible.
However, using encryption imposes certain limitations on service functionality. Below are the main points to be aware of:
- If encryption is enabled in your account, it must be confirmed on all devices where an agent version supporting encryption is installed. Otherwise, KidLogger will switch to "cautious monitoring" mode: it will stop collecting data containing personal information – web addresses, text and screenshots – and will only record the names of launched applications. This serves as a signal for the administrator that encryption needs to be confirmed for this device.
- Disabling encryption is not supported. This ensures data protection from server administrators and developers. It also cannot be turned off from the administrative side. Therefore, once monitoring agents receive an encryption key based on a password, they will continue sending encrypted data to the server until uninstalled. If you need to disable encryption for any reason, please contact server support. Use the contact form on the support page.
- The backup copy uploaded in the Backup section will also contain encrypted data. To decrypt it, first unpack the file into a new folder. Then log in to your account on kidlogger.net, go to the reports list for any device, and use the command “Open encrypted file”.
- Email reports will also contain encrypted data. To decrypt them, log in to your KidLogger account via browser, then open the email report in another tab of the same browser. At the top of the report, click the link "Decrypt Report" or "View Report in Decrypted Form".
